Some words offered, based on the lectionary readings for the 7th Sunday after Trinity, Year A

Extended Eucharistic preface

We praise and thank you heavenly Father through Jesus Christ your only Son.
In every storm of life he comes to us, Lord of the created world;
In every fear he speaks his words of comfort and encouragement;
In every failure, every loss of faith, he stretches out his hand to catch and rescue.
The old distinctions: female, male, Gentile, Jew, old, young, colour, race and tongue are swept away in him, the Lord of all, and through him all who call on you are saved.
Therefore we join the song of all the heavenly host, and lift our voices, hearts and minds to worship you and say:

Invitation to Confession

One believes with the heart and so is justified, and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved. Therefore with full confidence of salvation let us confess our sins in penitence and faith …

(cf Romans 10:10)

Introduction to the Peace

Jesus spoke to them and said ‘Take heart, it is I; do not be afraid’
the peace of the Lord be always with you…

(cf Matthew 14:27)

May the Lord come to you in the storms of life;
may he reach out his hand and catch you when you stumble;
may he speak to you in the silence
to grant you purpose and peace

And the blessing…

(cf. Matthew 14:23-31; 1 Kings 19: 12-13)
