From the New Testament reading at Morning Prayer:
Jesus said ‘The Son of Man is to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay everyone for what has been done. Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.’
(Matthew’s Gospel, chapter 16, verses 27-28, NRSV)

Nobody likes to be inspected or measured, despite us doing more of it than ever, so tales of judgement will never be popular. But let’s remember who will be doing the judging, and take heart.
