Today the church remembers Perpetua, a Roman noblewoman, and Felicity her slave who were martyred at Carthage in 203 (or possibly a few years later) together with several of their companions who also refused to deny their Christian faith.
Here is Perpetua taking her place in the Te Deum hymn of praise which runs round the clerestory in Great St. Mary’s church, Cambridge.
