Today the C of E remembers Thomas Cranmer who was burned at the stake this day in 1556 under the persecution of Catholic Queen Mary. Not that the Protestants did any better when they had their go, mind.

Out-of-favour Archbishops of Canterbury these day, of course, are treated with less in the way of fire, though lots more in the way of bile.
