Today the church remembers Jesus arriving at Jerusalem for the last time.
This year we hear Mark’s account, which is, typically, the most pared down: Luke’s Jesus laments over the city, John’s disciples fail to understand, Matthew’s Jesus somehow rides a donkey and a foal.
Mark’s account is unvarnished, not even mentioning the palm leaves or the prophecy in Zechariah, but nonetheless, Jesus arrives and leaves nobody in any doubt that something is about to happen…
