Now and always, here and everywhere it is right to praise and thank you, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Jesus Christ your son.

For knowing what awaited him, he set his face towards Jerusalem;

knowing that we could not help ourselves, he went to the cross for us,
and by his death and resurrection opened up the way for us into your kingdom.

Knowing all our weakness and reluctance, he calls us still to follow him.

Therefore, we rejoice in his defeat of sin and death, and lift our voice to join with heaven’s choir as angels and archangels sing your praises, saying:
