An extended preface for Remembrance Sunday (for use with Eucharistic Prayers A, B & E) – loosely based loosely on the hymn O God, our help in ages past

We stand in awe before you, almighty Father:
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.
You create all things and you sustain them in being.
From you, the earth received its frame, and you set the hills in order.

A thousand ages in your sight are like an evening gone;
Short as the watch that ends the night before the rising sun.

You have been our help in ages past,
you are our hope for years to come,
and through your son Jesus Christ
you have secured for us an eternal home.

Therefore with angels and archangels,
with saints who dwell under the shadow of your throne,
and with all who stand before you in earth and heaven,
we praise and glorify you, saying…
