Genesis 6-9

What do we make of the story of Noah?
A nice story for children because it’s got animals in it?
A revelation of God’s savagery?
Post-hoc justification for oppressing the Canaanites?
Folk-memories of a historical flood, also preserved in other middle-eastern legends, perhaps from the forming of the Caspian Sea?
Literal, historical truth, and be damned if you don’t believe it?
An allegory of how God can save us amid life’s terrifying events?
[clue] I don’t read it in all those ways…
